What Other Explorers Say

The 3 day Orkney trip was lovely. Iain was both funny and knowledgeable throughout the trip. The full day on the Orkneys was perfect for me and my interest in archaeology. The hotel that we stayed at was also quite nice. Iain's music playlist added some extra interest and fun to the drives (he's playing The Midges again as I write this review).

The tour to the highlands and Orkney was a great way for us to discover the Scottish culture and nature. Iain’s lively commentary made this trip into a great experience and we appreciated his personal touch in storytelling and attention to detail. For us first-timers in Scotland, this was a lightweight yet in-depth walk thru local history, which we could only highly recommend. We’ll definitely be back to discover more with Iain

Well, where to start. Orkney has been on my bucket list for such a long time, and certainly did not disappoint. Sonia our tour guide was absolutely wonderful, knowledgeable, funny and to boot a great driver. We managed to see so many places in the time we were on the islands, and on journeys either way also.. Also our hotel, the Ayre Hotel was fantastic, great food and very very very comfortable beds and spotlessly clean.. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone.

Excellent the script, the hosting, the playlist. The guide Harrison is very kind, attentive, careful at the wheel, knows a lot of local history. The tour was excellent and exciting mainly due to the hospitality and the presence of Harrison. Super recommend!!

Fantastic trip! There is just so much history in Orkney, from the Neolithic to the Second World War. Also dramatic coastal walks with lots of seabird. Entering a stone-age mound Tomb (hands and knees to get in, but full headroom inside!) was a real highlight, but lots of other places were close behind. Sonia, our driver/guide was a mine of information - just needs to talk a bit slower for the hard-of-hearing!

We had a fantastic trip. Sonia was an excellent driver and tour guide - extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic, patient, considerate, helpful and very entertaining. The accommodation in Kirkwall Bay hotel was very good. We made 16 stops on Orkney - neolithic, historic, wildlife, scenic and a brewery (something for everyone). We also made several interesting stops between Inverness and the ferry. There were some walks and plenty of opportunities for refreshments.

An amazing, fantastic experience! Our tour guide, Sonia, was wonderful! She is knowledgeable, humorous and so helpful. A good communicator and very personable. Sonia made this first tour experience of mine and my 15 year old son's time engaging and fun. She and the other guests on our tour were so welcoming of my son. I highly recommend the Orkney tour. It is truly amazing. Sonia's knowledge and humorous ways made an even better experience!

Fantastic tour with Harrison. He went out of his way so we could see Puffins, which happened on two occasions. He even managed to produce some sunny weather!

Very thankful that it was a small group tour. Our guide Harrison made our trip exciting, informative and full of fun. Now with new friends from different countries. We got to tick all our boxes. Puffins, hairy cows, ugly pigs and beautiful scenery. Highly recommended Harrison and Roscoe - Thankyou

We chose this tour because it visited Skara brae but we got so much more. The full day spent on Orkney were so full and Excellent guiding, commentary and driving by Sonia. She managed to give us really individual experiences at spots that could have been crowded. She was always positive. The 2 days travelling had highlights as well as the ferry ride. The guesthouse we stayed in was very comfortable and breakfast was excellent.

Great coverage, very comfortable vehicle. Sonia is a fantastic & knowledge guide. She goes the "extra mile" to plan & schedule sites & activities around tides, weather & cruise ship crowds - fits more in a day! Loved the special places Sonia found. Three days was an excellent choice.

This tour was the absolute highlight of our family trip to Scotland. We saw all of the gorgeous highlights and, more importantly, lots of lesser-known sites and sights that we would've completely missed without our amazing guide (Harrison). He was full of knowledge and personality, and he took amazing care of my family: adapting to my grandmother's walking pace, giving my aunt a little first aid for a minor injury, even creating a playlist of Scottish artists based on ou...

Orkney was awesome!! I learnt so much about the history of Scotland while touring the island, and it was so peaceful that we had many spots all to ourselves. Sonia was an awesome guide and went above and beyond to make sure that all of us were happy. The perfect escape from the city!!

The trip to Orkney and Skara Brae was a life changing experience. Our group was the first time that the Inverness office had conducted the tour (it used to solely come from Edinburgh) and we were blessed to get to know Sir Duff (Fraser Duff, lead guide) as well as guides Harrison, Emma & Sonia. The accommodations in Kirkwall were an enchanting B&B Karawa (proprietor was Fiona) and we had cooked to order breakfast. I loved having our own en suite.

The tour was excellent!! Duffy knew so much and was very friendly. He took the time to talk to us all and made sure we were OK at all times. There were four of us taking the tour and Emma, Harrison and Sonya as the trainees for tour guides. We were such a good bunch and they all were very good and took good care on us. We saw a lot and could not ask for anything more!!

Absolutely fantastic tour! Harrison was absolutely amazing and tailored the tour to suit us perfectly. He was also extremely knowledgeable, entertaining and shared lots of laughs with us. Tour guides can make or break a tour and Harrison blew the competition out of the water. I’m happy to leave Scotland with an amazing experience, wonderful memories and a new friend. Thanks Harrison!
