Your tour begins in the morning on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile. Before you set off, our Highland Explorer Tours reservations team will check you in and introduce you to your local driver-guide, who will be with you throughout the trip.
Days on tour are designed to feel full without being rushed. Along the way, there are regular comfort stops, chances to grab a coffee or something to eat, time to browse local shops and plenty of opportunities to get out, stretch your legs and take photos.
As you travel, your driver-guide will share stories about the places you visit, weaving together history, folklore, personal anecdotes and local recommendations. Between stops, a soundtrack of Scottish classics and contemporary artists helps set the mood for the journey.
At the end of each day, your guide will drop you off at or close to your accommodation and let you know exactly where and when to meet the following morning. Guests staying in B&Bs and guesthouses can enjoy breakfast before setting off for the day, while hostel guests have access to kitchen facilities to prepare their own meals.

Scotland’s weather can change quickly, so we recommend packing a waterproof jacket, comfortable walking shoes, and clothing you can layer to adjust throughout the day. Even in summer, evenings can feel cool, and in winter you’ll want warm accessories like a hat, gloves, and scarf.
